Text Tools

Clean up pasted text in seconds: change its case, remove extra whitespace and blank lines, drop duplicate lines, and count the words in any selection — all in your browser.

Text is processed only in the browser and is never uploaded to a server. Your text never leaves this device; autosave uses only your browser's localStorage.

Paste text, then use the buttons above. Case and cleaning buttons transform the entire text in the box.

Counts

Whole text — words (total)0
Whole text — characters (with spaces)0
Whole text — characters (without spaces)0
Selection — words (total)—
Selection — characters (with spaces)—
Selection — characters (without spaces)—

No text selected. Drag to select part of the text to count just that selection.

Selection counts use the same counting rules as the Word Counter: English words are runs of letters and digits (with an optional internal apostrophe), and each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character counts as one word unit.

What each action does

  • UPPERCASE: converts every letter in the whole text to upper case.
  • lowercase: converts every letter in the whole text to lower case.
  • Title Case: uppercases the first letter of each word and lowercases the rest of that word. For example, “hello WORLD” becomes “Hello World” and “don't stop” becomes “Don't Stop”. Words are separated by spaces, punctuation and line breaks; numbers stay as they are.
  • Remove Extra Whitespace: on each line, collapses runs of spaces and tabs to a single space and trims the start and end of the line. Blank lines are kept — use Remove Blank Lines to delete them.
  • Remove Blank Lines: deletes lines that are empty or contain only whitespace. All other lines are left untouched.
  • Remove Duplicate Lines: keeps the first occurrence of each line and deletes later exact copies, then reports how many lines were removed. Comparison is exact: case-sensitive and whitespace-sensitive. Line endings are normalised to a single newline. If you want “Hello” and “hello ” to count as the same line, run Remove Extra Whitespace first (and change the case first if needed), then Remove Duplicate Lines.
  • Copy Result / Download .txt: copy the current text to the clipboard, or download it as a plain-text file. Both work on the text as it currently stands in the box.

Steps

  1. Paste your text into the box. It is saved automatically in your browser, so a refresh or a return visit restores it.
  2. Use a case button or a cleaning button to transform the whole text. The status line tells you what changed, including how many duplicate lines were removed.
  3. Drag to select part of the text to see its word and character counts in the Counts section.
  4. Copy the result or download it as a .txt file. Use Clear to erase the text and its saved copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Text is processed only in the browser and is never uploaded to a server. Autosaved text lives only in your browser's localStorage on this device, and Clear removes it.

What exactly does Title Case do?

Title Case uppercases the first letter of each word and lowercases the rest of that word — “hello WORLD” becomes “Hello World”, “don't stop” becomes “Don't Stop”. It does not know about style-guide exceptions (for example, it will capitalise “and” and “the” like any other word).

How are duplicate lines compared?

Exactly: a line counts as a duplicate only if it matches an earlier line character for character, including case and spaces. Run Remove Extra Whitespace first if you want trailing spaces or case differences ignored, then run Remove Duplicate Lines.

What is the difference between Remove Extra Whitespace and Remove Blank Lines?

Remove Extra Whitespace tidies spaces within lines and trims each line, but keeps blank lines. Remove Blank Lines deletes empty and whitespace-only lines without touching anything else. They are separate buttons so you can do one without the other.

How is a selection counted?

Select text in the editor and the Counts section shows words and characters for just that selected substring, using the same rules as the Word Counter: English words are runs of letters and digits, and each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character counts as one word unit. With no selection, the selection counts show a dash.

What if copying or downloading fails?

The page shows a visible error message explaining what failed (for example, clipboard access blocked by the browser) instead of failing silently. You can still select the text manually and copy it, or try the download again.
