ID Photo Cropper
Crop one photo to a passport, visa or ID size, right in your browser. Pick a preset, drag the box to frame the face, then download the cropped photo as JPG or PNG.
Official sizes used on this page
These sizes come from the verified specifications already used by this site's photo pages. They were checked against official sources on 2026-10-22. Rules can change, so re-check your issuing authority before you submit — final acceptance is the issuing authority's, not this tool's. This tool only sets the crop ratio and output pixels; it does not check background, lighting, head size or eye position.

Crop presets on this page are separate from country requirements: 1-inch (25 × 35 mm) and 2-inch (35 × 49 mm) are common print presets. Do not assume a preset matches a country — check the authority for the document you are applying for. India head size and Japan head coverage in the site's photo specifications are published guidance, not a numeric official band, and are not checked by this cropper.
Crop your photo
Privacy: Files are processed only in the browser and are never uploaded to a server. Your photo stays on your device from upload to download.
Choose an image to start. Nothing has been uploaded.
Custom pixels set the crop ratio too, so the crop box changes to match them. If the ratio looks wrong, change the pixels or go back to a preset.
Zooming in makes the crop box cover a smaller part of the photo. You can also use the mouse wheel over the preview to zoom.
Result & download
Your cropped preview will appear here after you press “Crop & preview”.
If the download does not start, check your browser's download settings and try again — the file is created on your device, not fetched from a server.
How to crop an ID photo
- Upload one JPG, PNG or WebP photo. It is read in your browser only.
- Choose the preset your authority asks for, or a custom ratio. Check the size table above and re-check the authority before submitting.
- Drag the crop box to frame the face, and use the zoom slider to get closer. On a phone, choose a preset, then drag the box with one finger — pinch zoom is not supported, so use the slider instead. The crop can be completed on mobile with a preset plus drag; the mouse wheel is a desktop shortcut, not a requirement.
- If the photo is sideways or mirrored, use Rotate 90° (repeat as needed) or Flip horizontally.
- Choose the output size, press “Crop & preview”, check the preview, dimensions and file size, then download JPG or PNG.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. Your file is read in your browser only and is never uploaded to a server. Cropping and downloading happen on your device.
What size should I choose for my document?
Choose the size your issuing authority asks for. The size table on this page was checked against official sources on 2026-10-22, but rules can change, so re-check the authority before you submit. Final acceptance is the issuing authority's, not this tool's.
Does this tool check my background, lighting or head position?
No. This tool only sets the crop ratio and output pixels. Background colour, lighting, head size and eye position are still your responsibility under the authority's rules.
Can I crop a photo on my phone?
Yes. Choose a preset, then drag the crop box with one finger and use the zoom slider. Pinch zoom is not supported; use the slider instead.
Should I download JPG or PNG?
JPG is smaller and is accepted for most online uploads. PNG is larger and lossless; choose it only if your authority or form asks for PNG.
Why did I get an error?
Common causes are: a file that is not JPG, PNG or WebP; a damaged image file; a file so large your browser runs out of memory; or an export that failed. The error message on the page names the cause — try a different file, a smaller photo, or a different download format, and do not submit a photo you have not previewed.
